Bottle Chair
Bottle chair is made through a vacuum casting process, where vacuum pressure pulls water-logged paper to the wall of a perforated mold, extracting the water and leaving a shell of paper behind. The result is a hollow yet structural paper chair. In this process, the paper fibers are allowed to stay in the complex, tangled arrangement that they naturally gravitate to. The result is consequently very rigid despite having no additional binder. The goal going forward is to develop an open source system for other designers to apply this process to other every day products in our lives.
